Faith Amid Extraction: A Church Historical Reconstruction of the Anglican Church’s Engagement with the Environmental and Community Crisis in Oil-Producing Izombe, Imo State

I am delighted to share my doctoral dissertation, the culmination of years of research, prayer, fieldwork, and academic reflection.
This study examines the historical and theological response of the Anglican Church to the environmental degradation and community crises caused by oil exploration in Izombe, Imo State, Nigeria. It explores how the Church has sought to proclaim the Gospel while responding to injustice, ecological destruction, and the suffering of local communities.
My hope is that this work will contribute meaningfully to scholarship in Church History, Environmental Theology, Peace and Conflict Studies, and African Christianity, while encouraging faith communities to become active agents of justice, reconciliation, and sustainable development.
I warmly invite scholars, clergy, students, policymakers, and all interested readers to explore this research. I welcome your comments, reflections, and constructive engagement as together we seek faithful responses to the pressing challenges of our time.
