The Silence Over the Killing of Christians in Nigeria

The Silence Over the Killing of Christians in Nigeria

My heart is heavy as I write this. What is happening to Christians in the northern and north-central parts of Nigeria is nothing but genocide. The killings in Southern Kaduna and other places must be condemned by every honest and God-fearing person. These Fulani militias are attacking innocent Christians, destroying families and communities. We cannot pretend it is not happening.

I thank Senator Ted Cruz and his team from the United States for speaking out. It took someone from outside Nigeria to call this evil what it truly is. But my question is simple: Why are many Nigerian pastors and church leaders quiet? Why are they not speaking loudly against this injustice? Is it because it does not affect them directly? Is it fear? Or is it because of political interests and connections?

The Church in Nigeria seems to be silent. Christians are being killed, churches are burnt, and yet we act as if nothing is happening. Not long ago, a Nigerian Christian was beheaded on camera, and the world saw it. But where was the strong voice of the Church? Where was the loud cry from the altar?

Silence in the face of evil is dangerous. The blood of these innocent people is crying out. We must speak. We must pray. We must stand for the truth. This is not about politics — this is about humanity, justice, and our faith in Christ.

I speak with respect, but with pain in my heart. I am asking the Church in Nigeria: Please, do not keep quiet anymore. The world must not overlook the suffering and death of Christians in this land.
